Getting HYPE'd about Robots!

We had a blast at our first robotics camps for the summer held June 12-13 at the SLU-Wesley Center! We had 25 students in attendance at our Intro to Robotics and EV3 Robotics camps. It was a tremendous learning experience for all of us. While this is the third summer for the Bayou Builders to host robotics camps, this was the first time that we opened up the experience to our younger Intro to Robotics group. We had a great time interacting and assisting all the campers and their families. This video is highlight from our experiences both days.

We are looking forward to our second camp, July 17-18. We were able to make some adjustments to our Intro camp to bring in more students...however, just as soon as we did, we filled up again with 31 children registered! With this second camp, we will also have members from two additional FIRST Lego Robotics teams joining us to learn and experiment with more advanced programming. One of these teams is traveling down from northeast Louisiana just to hang out with us! What an honor!!!

We definitely wish we could provide more camp experiences at this time, since we are definitely seeing that there is a need and desire for such throughout our community. What we need is a more permanent location for this expansion. Our camp fees remain low because we want to work with and inspire a broader range of youth throughout our community. All money that we raise goes toward the operation of our community-based FIRST robotics teams and in the development of the community outreach we are able to provide.
